To qualify as a Child Drowning Prevention Specialist (Survival Instructor) your lessons must include proven aquatic self-rescue techniques that are taught in a safe and effective manner while being cognizant of developing a positive emotional and psychological response to water in the student.

Once qualified through the NRAI, Survival Instructors earn the title of Child Drowning Prevention Specialists (CDPS).

To qualify as a General Swim Instructor your lessons must include safe and effective teaching techniques that allow your student to become comfortable with the aquatic environment. General Swim Instruction includes progressive techniques such as strokes and diving.
