Throughout the US, aquatic professionals with decades of experience in training survival instructors have teamed up with CDP and the NRAI to build a base of "Child Drowning Prevention Specialists" that is to serve the growing need of child drowning prevention.

Experience Child Drowning Prevention's Principal Instructors' (PI) team consist of highly qualified individuals that have been teaching the infant aquatic survival technique for over twenty (20) years on average. Several CDP Principal Instructors hold Bachelor's of Science degrees in Nursing and/or Psychology, have worked in Psychiatry and Emergency Medicine, and are experienced Registered Nurses. Several have taught, coached and guided infants from aquatic survival training through their teen years into organized competition swimming.
CDP qualified PIs are well trained, highly experienced and very successful in instilling the right attitude and technique to their student instructors. Graduating the select few of certified Child Drowning Prevention Specialists that are then registered with the National Registry of Aquatic Instructors (NRAI). |
Noteworthy Principal Instructor Judy Heumann Dedicated to the prevention of child drowning for over 35 years, Judy Heumann has made it her life's work to provide the safest and highest quality survival swimming instruction to her students, both children and instructors. Teaching children and training instructors is her passion. She encourages parents and potential instructors to come by the pool and see the skill she and her instructors possess, the care they demonstrate while teaching aquatic survival, and the the joy of swimming that is ever-present in their students.
The mother of three grown children, Judy has a natural rapport with young people and the special ability to connect with infants and children. Her background and experience enable her to provide continuing programs for all students once they have acquired basic survival skills in private lessons. This includes classes that teach parents how to swim with their skilled babies, "Fun Day" group lessons for retention and skill enhancement, and stroke school for advanced older students. Due to ever increasing numbers, Judy has a highly trained team working alongside her providing the most exceptional swim program in her area. |
