CDPThe Child Drowning Prevention Mission is to be a pivotal component in the prevention of infant and child drownings and near-drownings; encompassing all aspects of prevention from supervision to pool barriers and, especially, survival instruction.

Adequate Adult Supervision / Aquatic Barriers / Survival Instruction
CDP created www.childdrowningprevention.com to educate the public about the lines of defense necessary to keeping our children safe around water.

We wanted to develop a "one-stop" online aquatic survival and recreation destination. We have now added the Online Sponsor Directory to provide qualifed aquatic barriers and other aquatic and child related products and services.

Back FloatIn response to overwhelming email inquiries, CDP enacted the National Registry of Aquatic Instructors (NRAI) to empower parents with instructors qualified to teach their infants to survive in aquatic situations; enabling confidence as they mature to safely and enthusiastically enjoy participation in water related activities.

The Child Drowning Prevention SpecialistCDPS
There are less than 600 instructors qualified to teach survival techniques to infants and young children throughout the United States. And only a very small percentage are qualified to train others to become competent instructors.

CDP has identified the lack of properly trained instructors with the ability to teach aquatic survival and self-rescue techniques to infants and young children as the number one factor in infant and child drownings. For this reason, CDP has recruited experienced infant aquatic survival instructors to become CDP Principal Instructors, persons qualified to instruct CDP applicants to become new survival instructors. The average CDP Principal Instructor has over 20 years in infant survival teaching experience, including multiple years teaching new instructors.

All survival instructors certified by a CDP Principal Instructor or qualified by the NRAI earn the distinction of being a Child Drowning Prevention Specialist.
